Alex has spent most of his career covering politics and diplomacy and was the FT’s Brussels bureau chief on the night Britain voted to leave the European Union. He grew up in a Romanian hotel for two years, attended his first school in Soviet Belarus, and spent his teenage years hanging around Turkish shopping malls. He lives in London.
